GURU-TEACHER
“Guru Bramha Guru Vishnu Guru Devo Maheswara” our epics have given the highest place for teachers comparing them with Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara. School is a temple where teacher is a god. Teacher is not someone who only teaches but someone who moulds the black clay into a beautiful pot. It is said parent is first teacher, teacher is second parent. In the anicent India teacher is called Guru. Gurus used to teach lessons in ashramas at free of cost. Students used to serve their Guru and learn lessons. That was the real way of teaching. They are real gurus and real students. Guru was given immense respect by students. Guru used to give all his knowledge and experience to students. It is the way of connecting heart of students and Gurus. The real form of education modified and the gurus became teachers and ashrams became buildings. Guru has not confined his duty to teaching but inculcating good qualities, philosophies. Guru is someone who removes the darkness in life and throws a curtain of lightness into life of students. Therefore guru has been called guru brahma guru vishnu guru devo maheshwara. But teacher has been not called a brahma as they confined themselves to teaching only. Sarvepalli Radhakrishna, Rama Krishna Paramahamsa, Vivekananda are examples such great gurus, not teachers. Every student reflects their teachers. Their faith, their courage and wisdom ever inspire us, so that we may keep safe treasures we have received from them.
